Professional boundaries

Loam & Moss provides professional therapeutic care. This policy explains your rights during treatment, what we ask of every client, and when a session may be paused or stopped.

Your rights during treatment

Questions about your care, clothing, privacy and draping are always welcome.

Before treatment begins, the practitioner explains the proposed care, the areas involved and the draping arrangements. The practitioner provides appropriate draping. Only areas relevant to the agreed treatment plan are treated, and only with your consent.

You can ask to pause, change or stop treatment at any time.

What we ask of every client

We ask for respectful communication, and for the draping and treatment boundaries agreed before treatment to be respected.

Sexual advances, requests for sexual services, sexualized comments directed at the practitioner, unwanted touching, harassment and deliberate breaches of agreed draping or treatment boundaries are not tolerated.

Where warranted, incidents will be reported to police and legal action may be pursued.

Pausing or stopping treatment

The practitioner may pause, modify, decline or end treatment at any time when, in their reasonable professional judgment, continuing would compromise their safety, the client's safety, professional boundaries or the ability to provide safe and appropriate care.

Protective action may be taken in response to a reasonable concern. It does not require proof of a client's intentions or a finding that misconduct has occurred. Where safety or a serious boundary concern is involved, treatment may end immediately, without prior warning.

After a session is stopped

A decision to stop treatment must be respected. Ending a session does not, by itself, constitute an allegation of misconduct. Decisions about future appointments will be communicated separately and made in accordance with applicable professional and legal obligations.

This policy and your rights

This policy does not take away any of your rights. It does not limit your right to withdraw consent, your privacy rights, or your right to raise a concern or make a complaint about your care.
